What a difference a day makes. Yesterday I was in 80' weather.
This morning I'm in the Chicago area ( my home town) where it's barely
30'
I'm looking forward to the gig and seeing friends and family.

I had a really nice Christmas. Two friends and I purchased some food
and phone cards from 7/11. ` We went to one of our local parks where the homeless hang.
With a smile we asked each man if he was interested in a food card.Wished them a
Merry Xmas and went on our way.
It was a simple act. There were a few that recognized us from last year.
It made us feel good that these men could get something to eat and drink and maybe make a call home.

As a survivor of Prostrate and Skin Cancer I was saddened by the news
of Dan Fogelberg.
This morning I learned about another great singer songwriter Stephen
Stills diagnosis
with the same disease.
The message here is men over 40 need to take a PSA. Prostate cancer is
silent.
If treated at an early stage the tumor or tumors can be treated.

On DEC I. Americans celebrated the enormous progress that had been
made in treating HIV? AIDS and to remember those we have lost to the
disease.
More than half a million Americans have died from AIDS>
I received an entry in my guest book from Julie. She was on the 2004
Rock Cruise.
Julie reminded me of a number of us gathering to speak about AIDS that
afternoon.
Thanks Julie and everyone that took some Sun time to be enlightened
and what AIDS
patients go through on a day to day basis.

I recently sent the last pair of John's drumstick to a friend I grew
up with in Roseland.
The day John passed he realized he was an alcoholic too.
We talked about old times. Then I told him I wanted him to have

The crowd response at the Mohegan Sun Arena was overwhelming
enthusiastic
Once I was off stage I had another set to do...that was at "Spin City"
a real music
store had been asked to do a sign copies of my book.
To my surprise there was a line of over 50 people waiting patiently
with a book
in hand.
What I really enjoy is the one on one contact I can make when I say
"Hi what's your name?" Shake hand. chat, have a PIC taken and feel

I've past the last few days in this most beautiful of cities.
My first visit was with my family .....So today I mark the passing of
my twin bro
John, here. John loved Hockey and was the goalie on our college hockey
team.
He brought as much passion to the game as he did playing drums on
stage.
There is one statement that I do need to clear. Sterling in his book
mentioned
that John had to work hard to be a good drummer. I have to disagree.
John was
a natural athlete. He brought that strength and coordination to the
"Tradewinds" days that would help to define some of the "Best" artistic &
Rock drumming of
his generation. His legacy in Styx lives on.

I knew my book would be lost to those who lack the "emotional and
intellectual "
capacity to understand what it is like growing up gay in the
USA...................
That was a risk I'm glad I took .....I'm sure when this hits the
bloggers it will be great
fun for some of them .. and challenging for others. Some might have to
face there bigotry and Homophobia.
Since the release of "My Story" I've spoken to crowds of people from
every walk of life.
From New York, Florida, S. Francisco, and Chicago on Radio TV and
Newspapers. I can't forget the Internet LOL
None of those enlighted individausls have even come close to the
negativecomments posted here....I thank them for that
To them My Story has brought hope and in some cases a better
understanding
of who they are. How anyone who hasn't read the book and thinks they
know the
the contents hasn't been to school in a long time. Gee I'm too lazy to
read so
I'll just think what he thinks. YIKES!
When I was a HS teacher and gave a reading assignment I knew there
would be
some students that wouldn't read the chapter or the book.
I could always count on this core group of lazy fakers who barely made
it through
school they usually dropped.
Why would anyone admit they never read the book and make negative
comments
about something they have no personal knowledge about??

Wow it's been sometime since my last post. Ton's of really good things

happened since then

4 readings and signings They have turned out to be excellent way's to
meet friends
and fans alike. I'm quite informal when I speak and the Q&A 's always
give me a chance for the fans to tell something about themslves
My most recent signing was last week in Miami at Book on Books.
It can be surreal when people are getting copies of your book :) to be
autographed.
On Thurs I'm of to San Francisco for a reading and singing at
Booksmith .
The next 2 days are dedicated to my participation in the PRIDE
Celebration.
Yes, I still play bass with Styx. After I arrive from the West Coast
on Monday
the 25 I unpack and leave until 7/09 for some Styx gigs'.

I was chatting with Styx tour manager after a recent meet and greet.
We spoke about a group of younger fans. I walked up to shook
their hands and asked if they enjoyed the nites performance.
They all said yes. I smiled and commented about one of the guys ACDC
to shirt
and told him also have one sometime year it on stage.
As I left them I realized that I've done that many times in my 35
years in music.
Each nite I'm able to meet some fans. I always leave with a smile
that comes
from within.

Two amazing things happened this week. One was when the Dixie Chicks
received
their armload of Grammys and the other when John Amachei became the

NBA player to disclose he is gay.

I've been in a whirlwind since Friday.
The Sarasota gig was excellent...after show was a smooth drive to
Miami. For the people of Miami.
When I hit the stage my in-ear-monitors were not working. In the
middle"Fooling Yourself "they kicked in and started to blast sound into my ear
drums.
Since this was a free event hosted by the NFL the crowd was as diverse
as any
I've ever seen. A quick set and off we were to the Broward Convention
Center for
another NFL sponsored event. This time the fans consisted of Pro
Football
players past and current and those who could afford the $600 ticket.
I thought Prince was excellent! Rain even when it's" Purple "is always
a challenge.
The Hype is over for another year. Next Styx stop is New Orleans.
I leave a day early for some promo for my book in the Cresent City.

Morning All, Today starts my Super Bowl Weekend.
I leave for a Tampa gig around noon today.
After Show Bus to Miami.Where I arrive for the Super Sat concert.
Styx does a Ihr set then were off to Lauderdale.
Styx perfoms for a Charity concert.
That's always a very "Good Thing"
News to me that the DeYoung camp is referring to me as the "Judas of
Styx!"

It's 5:22 am. Not quite sure what kind of day it will today.
There's not much of a Super Bowl buzz in my town.
Miami on the other hand has been getting ready for the past week.
SOBE in particular sizzles everyday. With the influx of Fans for the
Super Bowl and the snow birds, it will be Hot Hot Hot
PS SOBE is the word for South Beach.
Today started as a rainy, gloomy morning.
Just a little down I decided to surf the web when I came across a
story
about a simple parish priest from France who passed at the age of 94.
As I read on this Man had spent his entirely feisty life for causes of
the
homeless, poor, gay rights, ordination of women.
WOW! The French Government Honored his passing.
I wonder if we here in the States would feel the same?
He was a ray of sunshine for me on this rainy gloomy morning.

I'm sitting at my desk staring out into the garden. Getting ready to
start my day.
Last nite Tim and I attended a fund raiser for the Stonewall-library.
The event was well attended.
I was asked to say a few words. I spoke about how important community
involvement is.
And the value of the Stonewall-libray. Lets face the facts. Without
documentation
of one's history it can be lost in one generation.
I also want to thank the posts.
In the future I'll be using my blog for stories that I don't have time
to send to

I just returned from an 11 day tour with Styx. While the weather was
chilly
the performances were HOT!
Thanks to everyone who attended . You made the long tour bus rides
worth
every bumpy mile.
When I returned home on Sunday 1/22. There was an advanced proof of my
book waiting for me.
It's been called to my attention that a few comments have alraedy been
posted
by fans.
I do want to make a few statements regarding them .
Some have tried to speculate what the contents of the book is and is
not
about.
I've always been of the mindset that betore I form an opinon I try to
make
an informed one. Based on fact not here say or speculation.
If you've taken the time to read the synopsis it clearly states it's

Some have assumed (without reading the book ) that I'm OUT
to bash Dennis.
My answer in one word "NOT"
That I have not mentioned my twin bro John , my responce ...NOT!
In fact I spend quite a great deal of pages speaking about my Twin
Brother.
I've spent a lifetime writing this story. I hope it that it enlightens
it's readers.
While the story touches on what songs we chose and why ( that part
pales in
comparison to reality) it's much more then that.
It's about my personal journey to find my truth.

Well the Xmas 2006 is over. A few days before Xmas a few of my friends
from
the "Main Street Gym" gathered up presents that our fellow "Gym Rats"
donatated to a place called "Broward House" here in Ft Lauderadle.
The thought of Chidren without a present or a show of Love during
this Season
seemed unacceptable.
So there we were,the buff guys among the kids eating cupcakes and
nachos.
IAgainst a wall full of bikes and dolls and trucks etc
Of coure when it came time to signing a few Xmas songs my buds eye's
to U
know who,,,,,,Correct if you chose "Chuck"...with a little coaxing I
was in front
next to Santa signing "Santa Claus is comming to Town"
It was the Best gift we could give these young boys and girls.
We all walked away better for the simple act of giving a Xmas to kids
that
would not have had one.
